Why Are There Lots Of Treatment Options And Resources For Men Losing Hair But Not For Women?

I sometimes hear from women who are so discouraged and so fed up with their quest to get help for their hair loss. Often, they don't feel listened to or understood. And when they attempt to research their condition, they find that much of the literature is written for men who have androgenetic alopecia or male patterned baldness. Many of the treatments that are used for men aren't also used for women because of the potential for birth defects in a woman's fetus..

Common concerns that you may hear are things like: "my hair has been falling out for over eight months. My hair doesn't look anything like it did when this process started. The texture has changed. My hair literally looks sick. I have been to my doctor and he ran blood work, which all came back normal. So I went to a dermatologist who told me that I probably had temporary hair loss that would resolve. The dermatologist told me that I could try some topical solutions that are mostly used by men but this burned my scalp terribly. My scalp is already inflamed, so I had to stop using the topical. Every time I turn on the television, I see commercials that show treatments for men. They can get hair transplants and there is a whole industry that supports them when they are losing their hair. But the same is not true of women. Why is this fair? And why does this happen?"

I know exactly how this feels. When I went through hair loss, I went through the same thing and I felt the same frustrations. I think that part of the problem is that women do sometimes have telogen effluvium because of hormonal fluctuations unique to women. So, it is plausible to look at temporary hair loss first. The hope is that the condition will resolve itself on its own without any expensive or internal intervention. I understand this - to an extent.

But in my experience, once its clear that this isn't temporary and isn't going to resolve on its own, that's when the frustration starts. Many of the things in a doctor's or specialist's bag of tricks aren't thought to be applicable to women. I understand this also. But, if this is the case, then I think the health and beauty industries should start to respond. Sometimes, you don't get a lot of sympathy from people because hair loss isn't seen as life threatening or anything other than cosmetic. But when you are losing your hair, you don't really want to hear this.

Some people argue that women don't get as much help because we don't discuss our hair loss. I'm not so sure about this. I know that it's more socially acceptable for a man to talk about or seek treatment for his hair loss. But as a woman who has walked this road, I can tell you that although seeking treatment for this wasn't fun and perhaps not socially acceptable, I was certainly motivated to do it because I didn't want to just accept the hair loss without trying to do something to change it.

I have found this to be improving though. I am not going to tell you that it's always easy to find a specialist who specializes in female hair loss, but more and more are cropping up all of the time. And sometimes, if you look or ask around on hair loss forums, you will find referrals from people who have found someone who has actually been helpful. And if you check out pharmacies and beauty salons, you will see more and more products meant to address hair loss specifically for women.

The truth is, women can and do get androgenetic alopecia just like men. This is not a temporary problem and it needs treatment. As I said, I do see progress. It only makes sense that things will change because many women today suffer from hair loss and are willing to pursue treatments that work. For now, you may have to do a little research on your own and you may have to work a little harder to find someone who listens or who is familiar working with women. If you're not currently happy with your regimen, never hesitate to speak up and to keep looking.

And know that you are not alone. There are countless hair loss forums where you can reach out to others and share. Please don't isolate yourself. Reaching out to others who know what you are going through really does help. And there really are treatments that can help women today.

I know where you are and I know that this is difficult. But please hang in there. Often, things don't turn out as bad as you think and you may have relief right around the corner. The only way you don't have hope is if you give up on trying to find a regimen that may help. If it helps, you can read more of my story on my blog at http://stop-hair-loss-in-women.com/

Advantages of Using Human Hair Wigs

When you are undergoing hair loss due to medical reasons, you can become very frustrated. Human hair wigs can offer a lasting solution to such hair loss. These wigs are made from authentic human hair and look natural. This makes it quite hard for other people to notice that you are wearing a wig. This is just one of the many benefits of human hair wigs over the rest. The fact that it is made of human hair also means that there is no irritation as is normally seen with the synthetic hair.

Human hair wigs are quite easy to manipulate since they can withstand heat and washing. This allows you to have your preferred hairstyle. Since the wig can stand water, you can go swimming and enjoy all your normal activities. You can also wash it when it gets dirty and dry it easily. Simply put, you do not have to put your life on hold because you are wearing a wig. This means freedom to do anything you want and continue achieving your dreams.

It is possible to get customized medical wigs. These are made to the specifications you want. So there will be no difference between your current look and that before the hair loss. This allows you to feel comfortable wearing the wig. When getting a customized wig, you can choose a specific hair color, length and even style.

Another benefit of medical wigs is that they protect the remaining hair underneath. If you are experiencing hair loss, combing and constant brushing of your hair can make it worse. However, wearing alopecia wigs will ensure that you cover the hair underneath and allow it time to grow. This means you can be on the road to getting your normal thick mane back in no time.

Medical wigs are easy to maintain. You do not have to spend long hours at the salon getting the right hair style. All you have to do is pick the weave and put it on. Since it has already been styled all you have to do is tie it or leave it free as you wish. This will save you money as well. However, the wig can last you for a very long time.

Another benefit of cancer wigs is that you can have different styles whenever you want. Unlike with natural hair a wig can be replaced at will. This allows you to have different hair styles to suit the occasion. So you do not have to be committed to just one hair style. If you like variety, then chemotherapy wigs in different lengths and sizes could be the thing for you.

In order to get all these benefits, you need to get the right supplier for European hair wigs. This should be a supplier who has a variety of quality wigs. Having the right wig is quite important when you are experiencing hair loss. This will help you get your self esteem back and be satisfied with how you look.

Hair Transplantation in Women

Baldness is associated with men. Unfortunately, women too suffer from it. Baldness in women is linked to hormonal changes that result from pregnancy, menopause, and other life changes. Just like in men, baldness in women occurs in cycles. Women will notice mild hair thinning until apparent baldness ensues.

Since it's devastating for women to be bald, it's paramount to correct the problem while at its early stages. There are two main ways that women can correct the condition: using standard medications that make hair to grow, and undergoing hair transplantation.

Use of standard medication to restore balding is discouraged in women. This is because there are few studies that have been done to show the effectiveness of the medication on women. Due to this, the best way for women to restore balding is to undergo hair transplantation.

What is hair transplantation?

This is a surgical procedure where hair is harvested from areas of the head where there is ample hair growth and the hair is transplanted to the balding areas.

In men, hair is harvested at the back of the head and transplanted to the front. Hair transplantation in women is different. This is because women don't undergo localized balding; balding in women is diffuse where women lose hair in different areas of the head.

Due to this, it becomes hard for surgeons to have a specific area to harvest hair from; therefore, surgeons harvest hair in any part of the head as long as the area has high hair density.

After a surgeon has identified areas of the head that have enough hair, he transplants follicular transplants that are enough to fill your head. Once the surgeon has transplanted the hair, the transplanted hair mimics your natural hair. Due to this, it's difficult for anyone to know that you have undergone surgery.

Women that are ideal for Hair transplantation

The procedure is not ideal to every woman. There are some women whose balding problem can't be solved by the procedure. In this case, it's the doctor's responsibility to decide who undergoes the procedure and who doesn't. In most cases, women who can undergo the procedure include:

Those experiencing diffuse balding. Diffuse balding is the type of balding that is not limited to the top of the scalp. In this case, balding can be on top, on the sides and at the back of the head. When you have diffuse baldness, hair can be harvested in areas where there is plenty of hair growth and the hair is transplanted to the balding areas.

The other women who are ideal for the procedure are those that have high hairlines. According to research, women with high hairlines usually have stable hair growth patterns. Also, these women have strong supply of donor hair that can be transplanted.

The final women who are ideal for the procedure are those that have thinning hair around the crown or in the mid-scalp region.

How Lose Weight After Pregnancy

The most satisfying experience a woman can have is giving birth to a baby, but it comes with many difficulties, and the biggest one is losing the extra weight after pregnancy. During the pregnancy phase, you must have amassed many pounds of extra weight, which you obviously want to throw away.

You should not lose your heart: losing weight after you pregnancy is not only possible but it's actually not very problematic as well. You just have to be tolerant and regular in your struggles and the outcome will be in front of you very soon.

It is not sensible to follow the weight loss guidelines that can actually fasten the whole process of weight loss. As an alternative, follow diet with low fats combined with some physical exercise is one good technique to lose weight at an average speed. Other things that you can follow are as follows:

You are not a celebrity; do not think to lose weight miraculously:

Certainly! You cannot relate yourself with those celebrity moms, who get into the body shape instantly after their delivery and you also cannot overlook the fact that all of them are always surrounded by the fitness professionals, dietitians and nurses who are there to take care of them all the time.

Most essentially, it's also owing to their advertisement and other commercial promises, for that reason they are made to lose weight much faster as compared to the others new mothers. Thus, you should not set their example, in order to lose weight after pregnancy.

Allow your body to recover by giving it the needed time and emphasize on healthy eating:

For the initial three months after pregnancy, you should pay attention on eating healthy and nourishing food and focus on getting better and recovering your body's lost energy instead of thinking of fast weight loss. Remember, it takes the complete energy of your body to take care of the little one like frequently waking up at night for feeding. It can leave you fatigued and strained.

Exercise when it's possible for you: don't over-strain yourself:

Exerting yourself too hard and working out too much and that to very soon after your delivery, can affect your health in a bad manner. Always ask your doctor before you start any fitness routine or work out plan. Best thing is to stay away from such routines, unless your first check up after your delivery is done, and your doctor declares you to be physically fit for any kind of exercise.

Feeding baby

Your baby is completely dependent on you for his food in his initial days. You need to take care of yourself and your proper diet to feed him properly. Follow your doctor's advice for fulfilling the nutritional requirement of your body.

Let your body settle properly after your pregnancy before you start for hefty workouts, exercises, aerobics etc. Remember, it takes at least 2 to 4 months' time for the body to return to a normal mode and recover its lost power.

In the meantime, you can always do the light exercises like regular walking, stretching, and breathing exercises. Try to stay energetic; this will assist a lot in the complete process of weight procedure.

Losing weight after pregnancy can be a little slow procedure, as your body can take some time to come back to the normal after all the hormonal changes.

Remember heavy exercise and crash diet instantly after your delivery can adversely affect your health. Give proper time to your body and remember staying healthy is more important than an instant weight loss.

Holiday Hair Care Tips For Fantastic Hair

Think natural

Holidays provide a great excuse to ditch your hairdryer and straighteners and get back to basics. Take advantage of your natural hair waves and use a little serum or hair wax to define the curl. Don't waste your time on complex hairstyles - a simple hair band can create a different look when you wear your hair down or tie it up in a messy bun.

Sea salt sprays are the latest way to create beach hair at home. A mixture of water, oil and sea salt, they will add body and texture to your hair to get that surfer look, even if you're nowhere near the ocean. Be aware that they can be drying though, so they're not to be used every day.

Protect your hair as well as your skin

These days we are all aware of the importance of wearing sunscreen with a high SPF when we're on holiday, but not everyone thinks about their hair. While the sun can give your hair some attractive natural highlights, it will also dry it out and cause damage. This coupled with the effect of chemicals from the swimming pool and salt water from the sea can result in a dry frizzy mess by the end of your holiday if you're not careful.

Wear a hat when you're out during the hottest part of the day to protect both your hair and your scalp. If you've been swimming either in the pool or the sea, make sure to wash and condition your hair at the end of the day - rinsing is not enough.

Leaving conditioner in your hair and tying it up into a sleek bun is a good way to treat stressed hair - rinse it out at the end of the day and you'll be amazed at the difference. you can also use sunscreen on your hair - it will protect it and work to smooth out frizzy dry hair.

Take extra care with coloured hair

If you colour your hair just before you go away, the sun will be extra damaging and you'll probably find your colour fading fast. Wear a hat or scarf over your hair to protect it as much as possible and take some nutritive hair masques to put back the moisture the sun takes out.

Remember that swimming pools can turn blonde hair green and this is a particular risk if the hair is in bad condition. Try rinsing through your hair with plain water before you get in the pool so that it absorbs less chemicals.
